Trade show to cover everything from drainage through flooding to waterways management

Builders, developers and architects are going to have to ensure compliance with SuDS following the implementation of Schedule 3 to The Flood and Water Management Act 2010, due to take place in 2024.

With CIRIA curating the two-day SuDS theatre, there will be plenty of opportunity to learn and indeed work with peers to shape exactly how the compliance regime will work. This is an amazing opportunity to pick the brains of experts and ensure you do not fall foul of this new legislation.

For those interested, it will also be an opportunity to discover the benefits of retrofitting SuDS and discover when and how to implement in the most effective way.

Amongst the exhibitors you'll be able to understand in practical terms what solutions are on offer and how to make sure that builds are compliant, and the potential benefits and opportunities on offer to the wider local community.

Some interesting partnerships have been set up recently, although only connected by the co-located events, a few do impact on the drainage side.

The National Drainage Show is delighted to be sponsoring the National Drainage Awards this year, as the Wine Sponsor for the event.

The National Drainage Show (NDS) is now gaining some real traction, with more interest than ever, which includes companies booking early and some interesting new exhibitors to add to the mix. We really appreciate the valuable support of the NADC and Drain Trader magazine and are constantly looking for ways to make the event better.

UKSTT Central To Trenchless Zone

One important addition that had been requested, was a dedicated area for trenchless technology. So, we created a Trenchless Technology Zone and, at the centre of that is the UKSTT. Currently, exhibitors include: Bluelight Lining, TMS, GAP Group, Hoben International, Tracto-Technik and Greenbank Group are some of the companies exhibiting.

We are delighted to welcome the Water Jetting Association (WJA) for the first time, who will be supporting the show and have a presence, with a stand on the floor. We are delighted that Jetwash are back, along with Picote, RSM. DCR, FM Conway and many others. Bucher Municipal have a much bigger presence this year.

There are plenty of new exhibitors providing products and solutions, these include: Wohler UK, Environmental Waste Management (EWM) Libra Utility Services, Ebero Pipe Systems, Selwood Pumps, Blue Squirrel, MTS Cleansing and RSP are displaying a least one vehicle, maybe two.

The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) will be presenting either their new recommendations, or an update on what the government has done since their last report. In the 2022 report the NIC recommended stricter controls on new property developments. They said that nearly £12bn of investment in drainage infrastructure over the next thirty years will be necessary to stop thousands more homes and businesses from flooding, due to inadequate drainage. Hopefully, the new report will be available, by the time the show comes around and will make for an interesting presentation.

Canal & River Trust Property Development

By taking an active role, the property development team champions sympathetic yet contemporary waterside development, involving both residential and commercial schemes. The income they generate from this goes straight to help maintain the historic waterways, enhance local environments and reinvigorate the canal and river network.

Today they are involved in over £11 billion of waterside regeneration projects nationwide, reinvesting the profits from these schemes to help fund the waterways for future generations.

The CRT is a major land owner with a unique portfolio of land and property throughout the UK, worth over £500 million. Their team undertake land assembly and prepare their otherwise redundant property for regeneration by progressing it through the planning process.*

National Drainage Show Sits Perfectly Between two Other Events

There is a lot more to come for the National Drainage Show, which has the added bonus of being sandwiched between the Homes UK show and Futurescape, the commercial landscaping event, both of which will attract their fair show of developers, planners contractors and local authorities, who will then be welcomed to come into our event, if interested.

Waterways Management & Floodex 2023

The Waterways management Show should be of interest to anyone who operates, manages or has responsibility for the upkeep of our inland waterways, including volunteers. It’s not about the boats and leisure activities around the waterways, but more about keeping and improving our waterways. The event runs on 22nd & 23rd November at Excel exhibition centre in London’s docklands.

The Waterways Management Show will be a must attend event for anyone working within organizations around the planning, maintenance and management of rivers, canals, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, harbours and marinas. This includes local authorities as well as commercial enterprises and volunteers. There will be a wide range of CPD accredited seminars, hosted by expert speakers, to attend free of charge to complement the exhibition stands and special features.

Apart from making a valuable contribution to water level management and thereby having a positive impact on flood incidents, there is a whole other world around our inland waterways, which embraces farming & estates, infrastructure, leisure facilities, real estate, flora, fauna and the general environment, which have an impact.

This event aims to showcase the best products and services that will be valuable in getting the job done, from the lab to the field. Visitors will be able to talk to experts, suppliers. educators and thought leaders across a range of subjects, leaving the Waterways Management Show better equipped to deal with the pressures of inland waterways and surrounding land management.

Other valuable contributors and supporters across the events include: Inland Waterways Association, Rivers Trust, Environment Agency, CIWEM, CIRIA with susdrain, Institute of Fisheries Management, CAMELLIA and National Association of Drainage Contractors. We are also delighted to announce CanalsOnline Magazine as our most recent partner.

There has been fantastic interest in this new event, that we see as the 'third leg of the stool', having launched Floodex, then adding the National Drainage Show, to present an event that truly showcases a holistic approach to water level management and aims to gather most of the interested parties under one roof, on an annual basis.
