The Andy Guest Jetters 5-Series diesel jetter was launched in January as its most powerful and technically advanced machine to date. We talked to Easy Flow Solutions, the first company in Ireland to take delivery, about its performance in the field.

Easy Flow Solutions is a family-run drainage business established in 2013 by Trevor Coady. The firm is based in Kilkenny City and operates throughout South East Ireland providing 24/7 call-out drainage services, including unblocking and cleaning, CCTV drain surveys and no-dig repairs, for domestic, commercial and industrial clients.

When it came time to change his old jetter, Trevor looked at several competitors but kept coming back to Andy Guest. “I did some research and enquired about other jetters but wasn’t too keen on the other options. My head was probably already set on Andy Guest and the new 5-Series.”

As it turns out, his first jetter was a second-hand Andy Guest powered by a 4-cylinder Lombardini engine and Prattisoli pump. “It was already old when I bought it 10 years ago,” says Trevor. “But it was very reliable and served me well.”

“At that time it was a whole new beginning for me in the drainage industry, but I love the business, with its different challenges and different people and I get a lot of satisfaction from the work!”
Trevor first heard about the new 5-Series through Technical Camera Services (TCS), an Andy Guest Distributor in Ireland. The County Mayo-based business had been supplying Easy Flow Solutions with drainage equipment, such as CCTV cameras, for several years.

“I also spoke to Jon (Sales Manager) at Andy Guest. He said, go see the lads in Mayo because they’ll be able to handle all your servicing and installation needs. And they couldn’t have been better - 100% genuine.”

Trevor says choosing the 5-Series over other machines came down to performance: “With its increased flow rate, the 5-Series seemed like the right choice for the work we do, which can range from 1 ½" pipes up to 14". Although the machine was a bit more expensive than I was planning, I thought, if you’re going to do it, do it right.”

The 5-Series diesel van-pack jetting machine has been designed as a powerful, emissions-compliant solution for contractors tackling the toughest drainage tasks. Replacing the popular 4-Series, the new jetter utilises a best-in-class Yanmar diesel engine to deliver 3000psi @ 16gpm performance and can be used in pipeline diameters up to 350mm. Thanks to the inclusion of a diesel particulate filter (DPF), the 5-Series meets all Stage V emissions regulations with no compromise on performance.

“I will admit it took a bit of time to get used to the higher flow rate of the new machine,” explains Trevor. “I added some new nozzles and I now have everything working well. I’m very pleased with the performance and it’s more efficient than my previous machine. It seems to use less water despite the higher flow rate and certainly uses less fuel. It’s also a lot quieter and I love the remote control unit.”

Trevor also says he is pleased with the size of the machine in the van, in that it takes up less space than the previous machine, allowing for more tools and equipment storage.

Thanks to its compact frame, the 5-Series can be fitted in most 3.5t drainage vehicles. The switch from a traditional radiator system to a heat exchanger has also reduced the weight of the unit and allows for the inclusion of a larger 650-litre water tank.

Jon Woods, Sales manager at Andy Guest Jetters, added: “It’s great to have the first 5-Series in operation in Ireland and several more units are on the way. We’re very proud of the machine and the work our technical team put into developing the new jetter. Good luck to Trevor and his business and thanks to Padhraig and Mick at TCS for their support in this project.”
