With the spread of the Covid-19 Virus seemingly now inevitable we would like to provide you with some guidance which we hope is useful.
First of all we do of course encourage you to follow the advice and guidance that Government has provided, particularly in respect of hygiene and self-isolating in the event that you have any of the symptoms of the disease (high temperature, dry cough or breathing difficulties). We then suggest that:
You should pay extra care to risk assessments for each job that you are undertaking.
• In particular ensure that you are aware if the client is or has been infected by the disease in order to plan accordingly. • You consider:
o Obtaining as much information about a job up front by phone and or e-mail – with photographs if possible
o Avoiding direct contact with the client if possible, and keeping at least two metres distant if contact is unavoidable
o Taking payment by card remotely (in accordance with any contractual terms)
o Being particularly careful to ensure Personal Protective Equipment is fit for purpose (including face masks with filters)
o Dedicating multiple operatives to a job to make it as quick as possible
• You consider not accepting work that is not urgent and would place you or your client at risk • You ensure that your insurance policies are up to date
